What we believe about
Christian Counselling

We believe that theology informs all of life, and therefore all of counselling. We understand theology itself to be what the whole of the Bible teaches us today and what God is teaching us today about any topic. We understand counselling, at its core, to be a conversation where one person with trouble of sorts seeks help from someone they believe can in fact, help. Theology and evidenced-based counselling are not opposing forces but rather, we believe that God has given us grace to understand all true things. Christian counselling does not dismiss external sources of wisdom but rather critically examines them through the lens of what the Scripture teaches.

Wisdom
in Relationship

Counselling is an exchange of wisdom in relationship. When we share our innermost struggles, we want to know that the recipient in that sacred moment is receiving and responding with their trust in the wisdom of the God of the Bible.

When the authority of Scripture is the absolute benchmark in a conversation between believers, the God who made you, knows you, and loves you can and will Redeem you. Counselling then becomes more like engagement between two unique image bearers, and less like a problem-solving brainstorm running in empty circles. When the Holy Spirit is invited, revelation is inevitable.

We hold conviction that the Word of God is relevant to, and informative of all life, and that it can practically be applied to all hearts, every difficulty, and all circumstances.

Doctrine of the
Holy Spirit

We believe that the doctrine of the Holy Spirit is vital in Christian counselling. Reading from the bible and applying biblical principles is insufficient without the work, ministry, and effective rendering of the Holy Spirit. He convicts, indwells, teaches, empowers, gifts, and glorifies in the work of Christian counselling. We invite the Holy Spirit to continue His good work in you.
